1000 frontline health careers kickstart Queensland

Over 1,000 frontline doctors and paramedics hired in Queensland

More than 1000 frontline health workers are set to kickstart their careers in Queensland, joining the state’s strong and growing health workforce. The Queensland government has announced the deployment of 834 medical interns across 20 facilities in the state, marking the largest intake of junior doctors in Queensland’s history. Additionally, 200 ambulance operatives will join the frontline, providing even better and more accessible health services across the state.

The Premier welcomed the new recruits, expressing her government’s commitment to supporting good jobs in Queensland. The expertise and energy of the junior doctors, she said, will be of great benefit to the communities they will serve and will boost the accessibility of healthcare in rural, regional, and metropolitan hospitals. The 200 new paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers will make a big difference in communities far and wide, as demand for these lifesaving services continues to grow.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services  emphasised the challenging yet rewarding nature of working in healthcare. The hard work and dedication of the junior doctors and ambulance operatives will hold them in good stead as medical professionals. This time is an opportunity for the junior doctors to rotate through various units and gain hands-on experience, gaining a wealth of knowledge that will help them decide what kind of doctor they want to become.

The boost of 200 new recruits to the ambulance services will ensure the Queensland Ambulance Service can provide better care to the community. Queensland has one of the most sought-after ambulance service employers in the country, with over 540 paramedics completing their induction training last year. This announcement means that even more frontline emergency service workers will be able to help Queenslanders in need.

The Queensland government has made a record $23.6 billion investment in health, which will result in the employment of an additional 9,475 staff, nearly 10,000 more people to deliver world-class healthcare to the people of Queensland.

In conclusion, Queensland is a great place for health workers to start or continue their careers. With the deployment of over 1000 health workers, including 834 medical interns and 200 ambulance operatives, and the government’s record investment in health, the state is well on its way to providing world-class health services to its residents.
